Swipe - Volunteer - Impact

Where’s the Tinder for volunteering? Volunteering brings joy and fosters meaningful connections. However, the process of finding volunteering opportunities is anything but enjoyable. Karma solves the challenge by linking volunteers with impactful opportunities in their communities and streamlining the matching process between volunteers, NGOs or individuals in need of assistance.

Intrigued by Tinder's intuitive swipe-based interface, I incorporated success factors like Simplicity, Emotional Connections, or Gamification into my own solution.

This project centered on developing two native web applications: one for IOS and one for Android, adhering to Human Interface Guidelines and Material Design principles. The project scope included crafting an intuitive, user-friendly, and visually appealing UX and UI design.

Considering the two user groups—volunteers and individuals or NGOs in need of help—I streamlined the onboarding process to tailor it to each user's goals. After completing basic registration, users choose between "Offer Help" or "Receive Help," which directs them to a tailored flow based on their selection.

Talking about design, the app's central theme is a hand. Symbolizing connection and serving as a metaphor for communication and interaction—both between users and the app. The name 'Karma,' inspired by the belief that actions shape one’s future, creates an authentic and compelling narrative that brings the product to life. On top I wanted to establish an app that feels welcoming and inclusive, where the vibrant color palette mirrors this atmosphere with its bright and cheerful hues.

My approach prioritized features that create a personalized experience. Therefore Users can choose from a wide range of volunteering opportunities to discover matches that align closely with their interests and foster ongoing engagement with the app.

To handle edge cases where no matches are found, users are given options to refine their volunteering preferences. They can adjust categories or expand the search area to improve their chances of finding potential matches. This ensures a more engaging experience by avoiding empty screens.
